Natural Assets of TurkeyAside from the welcoming dry subtropical climate, similar to Greece and Southern Italy, where the winters are mild and the summers are hot, Turkey has many natural assets which make the country ripe for real estate investment.![]() The country is composed of two territories, an Asian side called Anatolia or Asia Minor which is made up of a large mountainous peninsula and the Eastern side or (in Turkish) Thrace which is the far souther eastern part of Europe. While Ankara is located in the mountainous region of Asia Minor, Istanbul is located in the fertile hills of Thrace. These very different geographical features add to the beauty and appeal of this fascinating country. The two sides are embrace three major waterways, the Sea of Marmara and the straits of the Bosporus and the Dardanelles. Stunning natural beauty abounds in Turkey (like walking behind the cascades of the Upper Düden waterfalls near Ankara) or the view of the Lower Düden waterfalls as they meet the sea, which is breathtaking when viewed from the sea. Imposing aqueducts and ancient bridges are seen everywhere throughout the countryside and are often still used, as are the ancient routes used by many ancient warriors, although they normally lie beneath modern roads which make travelling around the country a pleasant experience. Why not take a journey up to ancient Troy, where currently teams of archaeologists are working to restore one of the most famous cities in history. |
