Hotels in MalaysiaHotels in Malaysia are extremely varied, with everyone being able to find what they are looking for, from the most modest, low budget pension to the most exclusive and luxurious resort imaginable. Almost all of the leading hotel chains have a presence in Malaysia, including but not limited to: Hyatt, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton and Sheraton. As part of the tourism strategy in Malaysia, Tourism training institutions and courses aim to equip the tourism industry with a competent and reliable workforce. The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) established a tourism school in 1996 to educate its members and also the general public. It is no surprise, as the international arrivals to Malaysia have increased from just over 10.5 million passengers in 2003 to over 17.5 million in 2006, that every major hotel chain is taking a large interest in the country as a tourist destination. The number of available hotel rooms in Malaysia was 144 thousand in 2003 and in 2006 was 156 thousand. Malaysia also promotes itself as a fabulous destination not only for the usual holiday in the sun but also increasingly popular as a Meetings and conventions destination with hotels and convention centres focused on providing memorable experiences for their visitors. |
