Travelling to MalaysiaOne of the major considerations when visiting Malaysia should be the time of year and the destination within Malaysia which you will be visiting, as the rainy season in Malaysia extends from April to November with the exception of the East Coast, which experiences Monsoons from November to January. Many European capitals offer flights to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, located in Sepang, Selangor State, in Peninsular Malaysia, one of the largest airports in the world. As well as being one of the largest airports in the world, Kuala Lumpur airport was voted best airport of its size (15-25 million yearly passengers) twice in a row, once in 2005 and once in 2006. Additionally, Kuala Lumpur International Airport has received numerous nominations and awards every year since 2001. Kuala Lumpur can cater up to 35 million passengers a year. Direct flights with Malaysian Airlines depart the UK twice daily from Heathrow and arrive in Kuala Lumpur around 12 and a half hours later. There are also several non-direct flights with airlines such as Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Etihad, Qatar, Gulf Air, Cathay Airlines and others on a daily basis. For UK nationals, a British passport is required valid for at least 6 months after the arrival however a visa is not required. There is a limit of 1000 RM Ringgits which can be brought into or taken out of the country and any excess may be confiscated. There are numerous Travel Agents in the UK which specialise in flights and package deals from the UK to Malaysia who could be consulted for information regarding flight possibilities which best suit your travel plans. |
