Weather in MalaysiaMalaysia, located in the tropics, between 1 and 6 degrees north of the equator has a warm and humid climate. As a tropical climate, temperatures are warm all year round and there is also rainfall all year round. The northeast and southwest monsoons, tropical winds which alternate during the year affect the climate. From November to January, the northeast Monsoon blows, and there is heavy rainfall on the East Coast of Malaysia. From May to September, the southwest Monsoon blows, during which time the rainy season visits the western part of the country. One of the most complex and varied ecosystems in the world, tropical rainforests, covers about four fifths of the country and the government has set aside almost 1.5 million hectares to protect them from development, working actively to protect Malaysias rainforest and the rare wildlife which resides there. Temperatures do not vary greatly from month to month and also do not vary greatly during the day. Night time temperatures can feel harsher due to the high humidity, whereas in the afternoon, sea breezes often soften the climate. |
