Morocco's largest industry is the mining of phosphates. Its second largest source of income is from nationals living abroad who transfer money to relatives living in Morocco. The country's third largest source of revenue is tourism.

Is it allowed for foreign nationals to own property in Morocco?
The answer is yes, any investor - no matter their nationality - is allowed to purchase property in the country.

Which is the best way to go to Morocco?
The best way to travel to Morocco is by plane or if you are departing from Spain by ferry. Morocco’s national airline is Royal Air Maroc (AT) (website: www.royalairmaroc.com). Other airlines serving Morocco are Ryanair, EasyJet, Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines. Direct flights from all major European cities are fast and frequent.

Do I need a VISA to enter the country?
As you are going out of the European Union you will need a valid passport to go to Morocco, which will be stamped and this way you will have the right to stay up to 90 days. Longer stays can be arranged at any Police Station.

Which are the taxes applied to property?
Capital gains of 20% applies if the property is sold within 5 years, 10% if sold within 10 years and 0% capital gains is incurred if the property is sold after 10 years.

Inheritance tax does not apply if the property is left to a family member.

There is no annual property tax paid for the first 5 years, after this the tax payable relates to the amount of rental income received by the property owner.
