Turkey Property GuideTurkey’s wonderful geographical position, located on two continents, both in Europe and in Asia, is a hint at the exotic and mystical country which awaits visitors. The majority of Turkey is located in Asia, the side of Turkey known as Anatolia, while the European side, Thrace, represents only around 3% of the total land mass.![]() Anatolia is composed mainly of large mountain ranges while Thrace is covered in fertile hills. Ankara, the capital of Turkey, is located in Anatolia while Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city with over double the inhabitants of Ankara, is located in Thrace. 99% of the population is Muslim however the country is run by a secular government therefore all religions are assured complete freedom of worship. Turkey has coastal areas on three sides, with the Mediterranean in the south, the Aegean Sea in the west and the Black Sea in the north. There is also an important internal sea, the Sea of Marmara which is located between the straits of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles. It is no surprise then, that this country which in geography alone offers such a great variety is one of the top ten worldwide tourist destinations. And with a steadily growing economy, the astounding growth of the tourism sector adds to the attraction for investors. The Turkish government have recently implemented a Tourism Strategy which they are working with to achieve their goal of being in the top five countries worldwide receiving the highest number of visitors and tourism revenues by 2023. With inflation at the lowest it has been for the past 35 years, and very encouraging investment growth in the commercial real estate sector, together with the low property prices and favourable tax conditions for investors, Turkey is without a doubt one of the most attractive countries to invest in at the moment. |
